The Challenger Trust is unique in its ability to develop programmes and work with disadvantaged young people from any school or group in any area of the UK, working in partnership with funders to meet the needs of schools and communities.
A typical Challenger Trust Course involves:
- A programme of after school activities including first aid, map reading skills, cookery, budget planning, team building and leadership.
- Organisational skills and money management through supervised fundraising activities to provide a student contribution to the cost of the course.
- A training day with team based problem solving tasks at each checkpoint of an orienteering style course.
- A 3 or 5 day expedition-style residential course with a combination of outdoor activities such as climbing and canoeing and demanding group tasks. Supervised by qualified instructors, participants will camp and cook for themselves and take turns to lead their team on this challenging journey.
- Gaining or working towards accreditation such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
A dedicated Challenger Trust Project Manager will oversee the programme and provide support with planning, fundraising and monitoring progress and outcomes.
We are also able to design bespoke programmes to meet the needs of specific groups, including children with Special Educational Needs.
